"Via Bearzi " is the completion of a film started by climber Mike Bearzi just before his untimely Death in the Himalayas in 2002. His aim was to portray the essence of two-man, alpine climbing on a new route up the steep face of Gyachung Kang.
Using Mike’s video and a lifetime of stunning mountain still-photography, along with the accounts of his climbing partners, friends Jeff Alzner and Brook Kirklin painstakingly compiled this portrait of a man attempting to realize a dream.
This film reflects the adventure and motivations, along with the humor and ethics, of a climber who left his impression on everyone he touched.
